The Turtle and The Tourist is a story from the TV-series called “Environmental Atlas” about sustainable eco-tourism in Turkey, and turtle conservation efforts in the small beach resort called Çirali. The locals have implemented some rather ingenious methods for turtle conservation, and so far they have also managed to keep multi-national hotels to build on the beach where the endangered Loggerhead turtles (Careta careta) come to nest.
The Environmental Atlas of Europe is a UNEP-EEA-ESA joint project showcasing communities responding to environmental change across Europe. The films present a series of these inspirational stories about how people are responding to climate change and in so doing, transforming their lives for a more sustainable future.
